The Lockers group

Bill Slim The Robot William, Don Campbellock Campbell, Adolpho Shabba-Doo Quiñones, Greg Campbellock Jr. Pope, Leo Fluky Luke Williamson, Fred Mr. Penguin Berry, and Toni Mickey Basil.

The group's history is commonly mistaken for the history of the dance itself. The Campbellock dance was already consolidated with practitioners across clubs in Los Angeles. Don Campbell, the creator, had not only the fundamentals well developed but a remarkable visual style, and a song created by him produced by Stanson Records where he would show in a Funky way what you should do to Campbellock.

The dance became a trend as The Lockers rode the wave Don had originated. The dance was evolving with numerous performers enhancing it by introducing new steps and styles, while still honoring, and respectfully preserving the fundamentals established by Don.

The original members stayed together for approximately three years, when some of them left the group, other members were added and, over the course of a decade, new members joined under Don's leadership, keeping the group so famous worldwide that the dance is commonly referred to as Locking - as the group name’s first abbreviation.

Street Dance Roots honors each professional Street Dancer who performed with Don Campbell in The Lockers group, preserving his legacy and inducting The Lockers group into the Hall of Fame.
