Tony Lewis a.k.a. Tony Gogo

Anthony Lewis Foster, also recognized as "Tony Gogo" is a living Street Dancer legend, Choreographer, OG Locker, and co-founding member of The GoGo Brothers, which has been active for over 50 years and continues to thrive.

Like many other young people across the USA, Tony was introduced to Locking through the TV show Soul Train, watching Don Campbell and Damita Jo Freeman performing or being interviewed by Don Cornelius. At that time he was in junior high school in the orchestra's marching band in Houston, Texas. He didn't know that one night, when he and his friends: Edwin "Buddy GoGo" Lombard and James "OG Skeeter Rabbit" Higgins, would go to Hollywood to "The Citadel Club" where he would have the chance to meet personally his first inspiration into dance, Don Campbell who was in that club too, dancing along with other Fred Berry a.k.a. Rerun and Johnnie McCloud a.k.a. Sambolock.

Tony is considered one of the most important Street Dancers who have been instrumental in spreading Street Dance Culture across Asia. The invitation to go out there came from his friend Cleveland Moses Jr., a Soul Train Street Dancer, who was already residing in Japan during the 70s when the Street Dances were not as widespread as we know nowadays.

After this first impression, Tony would return to the USA and join the Soul Train Gang, being regular on the show, and eventually becoming a member of The Lockers group.

Tony had been part of important crews such as Creative Generation, 33rpm, The YoYo Brothers, and of course The GoGo Brothers. Where his sons Yuu and Rei exemplify Tony's exceptional performing style. In 2023, the brothers received the Street Dance Roots International Awards in the Group category.

For more than 50 years, Tony has remained a unique artist with his energy, and outstanding character, making him a respected judge or master worldwide.

Street Dance Roots pays tribute to his legacy by proudly inducting him into the Hall of Fame.
