Lockatron John

John Christian, a.k.a. Lockatron John hails from Laurinburg, North Carolina. Beginning his dance journey in the early 70s, Mr. Christian was heavily influenced by his family's strong ties to music and dance from the 60s and 70s at a young age. Afterward, he relocated to New York, where he established a dance group known as the Locka-Trons.

John Christian has showcased his talent on both Broadway and off-Broadway stages, having traveled extensively to various countries dancing with Kennedy Center Honors; Alice Tully; Hall Theater; Madonna; The Boston Ballet; Herbie Hancock; and getting the Bessie Award Choreography. Collaborating with others, Mr. Christian played a significant role in shaping and enriching the dance industry.

By fusing breakdancing, jazz, tap, ballet, magic, locking, popping, capoeira, and other dance forms, he participated in some films like Aijou Monogatari; Beat Street; Body Rock; Magic Behind the Mask, and Exterminator II.

Lockatron John worked for the stage of So What Happens Now; Bill Erwin Largely New York; Alice Tully Hall Theater; Theater De Caen; The Mikado Theater; The Criterion Theater creating a distinctive and visually captivating experience for audiences in New York and beyond touring through Japan, Canada, Germany, France, and numerous college tours in the US. Currently, Mr. Christian is employed at a Fortune 500 company while still advocating for the positive impact of the Street Dance.
